What does the future have in store for France? BBC noted that Nicolas Sarkozy has sought to soften his image and remodel himself as a unifier - to counteract his image as a divisive force in France.
Critics say he is too aggressive and impulsive to be trusted as French leader. They note in particular his comments during the 2005 riots, when he promised to hose the “rabble” from the streets of the suburbs. So his message on Sunday was one of harmony: “My dear compatriots, I want only one thing,” he said. “To rally the people of France to a new French dream, a French dream which will be the dream of a fraternal republic, where everyone will find their place, where no-one will be afraid of the other, and where diversity will be experienced not as a threat but as a richness.”
The left has said he would destroy the much-loved French social model, making the rich richer and the poor poorer. His campaign has focused on France’s ailing economy and an unemployment rate that has remained stubbornly high at 9% of the workforce.
Stay tuned for Segolene Royal analysis tomorrow.

Well, Mr. Iraq has WMN now says he was a scapegoat. He said “I remember picking up the phone and calling Andy Card, who is a terrific human being and somebody I’ve always trusted…. Hi, Andy. I said, you know, we believe — I believed that he had weapons of mass destruction and now what’s happened here is, is you’ve gone out and made me look stupid. It’s the most despicable thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Men of honor don’t do this. ”
Well, it is long past due that “congress” look at this whole mess. I’m so serious when I say that the American people were lied to FLAT out. This is grounds for impeachment and that is exactly what needs to happen. Congress, although they won’t do much except ask a lot of questions is asking for answers.

In other news, Malaysia has a new King. The king, known as Yang di-Pertuan Agong or He Who Is Made Lord, formally took office at a ceremony in the throne room of the national palace. Sultan Mizan, will rule for five years. The sultan is the former ruler of the oil-rich Terengganu state.
Well thats all I have to report on that but best of luck to the new King and to economic and social development in Malaysia.

Did the most powerful Republicans in America have the computer capacity, software skills and electronic infrastructure in place on Election Night 2004 to tamper with the Ohio results to ensure George W. Bush’s re-election?
Hummm, let me think about that for a second. I think so. What is also interesting about the below article is that this is the same networking company that host the US attorneys emails.

In case everyone missed this one, a showdown between singer and songwriter Sheryl Crow/Laurie David and corrupt Karl Rove went down recently. Here is the lowdown. The three of them attended an event and when Sheryl and Laurie saw Karl, they thought this would be a good opportunity to talk with Karl about the Bush’s policy on global warming.
Well Karl doesn’t give a crap about global warming. All he thinks about is money and how to get his incriminating emails deleted. In anycase, this is what happened afterwards:
“In his attempt to dismiss us, Mr. Rove turned to head toward his table, but as soon as he did so, Sheryl reached out to touch his arm. Karl swung around and spat, “Don’t touch me.” How hardened and removed from reality must a person be to refuse to be touched by Sheryl Crow? Unphased, Sheryl abruptly responded, “You can’t speak to us like that, you work for us.” Karl then quipped, “I don’t work for you, I work for the American people.” To which Sheryl promptly reminded him, “We are the American people.”… read more

Looks like the time for impeachment has begun. Hopefully, there will be more talk on capital hill for impeachment of not only Dick but Bush too.
According to the Washington Post:
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), the most liberal of the Democratic presidential candidates in the primary field, declared in a letter sent to his Democratic House colleagues this morning that he plans to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney.
Kucinich has made ending the war in Iraq the central theme of his campaign. He has even taken aim at the leading Democratic presidential candidates in the field for their votes on authorizing the war.
Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution gives Congress the authority to impeach the president, vice president and “all civil Officers of the United States” for “treason, bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
Sources tell the Sleuth that in light of the mass killings at Virginia Tech Monday, Kucinich’s impeachment plans have been put on hold. There will be no action this week, they say.
Kucinich’s office had no comment on the Congressman’s “Dear Colleague” letter — which apparently was drafted over the weekend, before the school massacre — or on what the focus of articles of impeachment against Cheney would be.
But Kucinich shouldn’t hold his breath on getting anywhere with his impeachment plan. “We’ll see a Kucinich Administration before we’ll see a Cheney impeachment,” quipped one Democratic aide.

This article did not surprise me. Military enrollment is down, so how else are you going to keep troops in the Middle East as 2 years become 4 and 4 years becomes 8?
The Senate Armed Services Committee heard testimony Tuesday that increasing the size of the Army and Marine Corps may not resolve severe and growing personnel problems. There was even talk of returning to the draft to fill the ranks….
“If the United States is going to have a significant component of its ground forces in Iraq over the next five, 10, 15 or 30 years, then the responsible course is for the president and those supporting this open-ended and escalated presence in Iraq to call for reinstating the draft…”

Well, I will jump on the issue too since everyone and their mother is talking about it. The rights to bear arms which is specifically stated in the 2nd amendment of the U.S. constitution and the 9th amendment which stated that we have the un-enumerated rights, including implicitly a right to keep
and bear arms and a right to have arms for defense. It is my belief that it is way too easy for people to buy guns in this country. Alexander Hamilton wrote in the Federalist Papers: “This will not only lessen the call for military establishments, but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens.” Well, clearly we are living in different times. What are the political benefits of our government for keeping hand guns readily available. What is NRA’s role with our government. These are interesting questions that should be examined.
As the days go on, we will learn more about Cho Seung-Hui and the reasons why he went on his killing massacre. The reasons (physiological) are just as important as the gun control issue.
