Who would have imaged that an elected official under the Bush Administration who actually was “for the people” as our constitution says would be fired for protecting our rights. Well the LA Times reported:
For more than 15 years, clean-cut, square-jawed Tom Heffelfinger was the embodiment of a tough Republican prosecutor. Named U.S. attorney for Minnesota in 1991, he won a series of high-profile white-collar crime and gun and explosives cases. By the time Heffelfinger resigned last year, his office had collected a string of awards and commendations from the Justice Department.
So it came as a surprise — and something of a mystery — when he turned up on a list of U.S. attorneys who had been targeted for firing.
Part of the reason, government documents and other evidence suggest, is that he tried to protect voting rights for Native Americans.
At a time when GOP activists wanted U.S. attorneys to concentrate on pursuing voter fraud cases, Heffelfinger’s office was expressing deep concern about the effect of a state directive that could have the effect of discouraging Indians in Minnesota from casting ballots.

There is nothing like hearing Keith talk about what is going wrong with this country. He talks like no other newscaster out there (Lou Dobbs comes in 2nd). Listen for yourself.

“…when faced with the prospect of someone calling you on your stubbornness–your stubbornness which has cost 3,431 Americans their lives and thousands more their limbs–you, Mr. Bush, imply that if the Democrats don’t give you the money and give it to you entirely on your terms, the troops in Iraq will be stranded, or forced to serve longer, or have to throw bullets at the enemy with their bare hands. How transcendentally, how historically, pathetic.
The Democratic leadership has, in sum, claimed a compromise with the Administration, in which the only things truly compromised are the trust of the voters, the ethics of the Democrats, and the lives of our brave, and doomed, friends, and family, in Iraq.
You, the men and women elected with the simplest of directions - Stop The War - have traded your strength, your bargaining position, and the uniform support of those who elected you… for a handful of magic beans.

When I hear the Bush administration giving money away I immediately think fraud and waste. Well it appears that the $1 billion paycheck the Bush administration is giving to the Pakistani government is a BIG waste. Why? Because, Bush demands zero accountability as to how that money is used. For all we know it’s going to organized crime in Pakistan. And since Bin Laden is having a cozy time hiding in the mountains somewhere, I would think the Pakistani government is not doing a very good job. I mean, how hard is it to search mountains…we have had 6 years to do so.

I can certainly understand nationalism and wanting to protect your country, but this subtle tone of endorsing torture is a bit disturbing. What do you think?

The below article offers a great explanation as to why members of Congress (from both sides) are so afraid to impeach Bush. In my opinion if the impeachment of former President Clinton was held than ideally President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should have been impeached months ago.
Dave Lindorff of the Baltimore Chronicle says “There are many impeachable crimes by this president (and vice president), such as obstruction of justice in the Valeria Plame outing case, conspiracy (or treason) in the Niger “yellowcake” document forgery scandal, conspiracy to engage in election fraud, lying to Congress, criminal negligence in responding to the Katrina disaster, bribery and war profiteering, etc., which would require Judiciary Committee investigations.”

It’s Friday so I thought I should try to bring some laughs to everyone. Although what happen in Kansas is not funny, the point of the federal government not providing AID in a timely manner is just….well….history repeats itself.
