Paul Craig Roberts: The Iraqi Genocide

October 17th, 2007 by CD

Another good article by Paul Craig Roberts

Excerpt (read the rest here)

The US government has broken every agreement with Russia by withdrawing from the anti-ballistic missile treaty, pushing NATO to Russia’s borders, conniving to place missiles in Poland and the Czech Republic, and buying governments in former Soviet republics and installing US military bases therein.

When Russian President Putin finally has enough and protests, the US Secretary of State blames Putin for being difficult and restarting the cold war.

Few Americans realize it, but they take the cake.

International polls show that the rest of the world regard the US and Israel as the greatest dangers to world peace. Americans claim that they are fighting wars against terrorism, but it is US and Israeli terrorism that worries everyone else. The rest of the world knows that the wars are about US and Israeli hegemony and that the US and Israel are prepared to engage in whatever acts of terror are necessary to achieve hegemony.

Putin warns US against military action on Iran

October 16th, 2007 by CD

It is about time someone stands up to the U.S. against the growing pressure of the neocons to attack Iran.

VIA: Guardian

The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, today warned the US not to use force against Iran in the current nuclear dispute.
Any military intervention in the Caspian Sea area would be unacceptable, Mr Putin declared as he attended a five-country regional summit in Tehran.

“We should not even think of making use of force in this region,” Mr Putin told his fellow leaders.

His remarks also appeared directed at Azerbaijan, amid Russian media speculation that the US might be trying to negotiate with the republic on the right to use military facilities there, something Azeri officials deny.

Jimmy Carter: United States tortured prisoners

October 12th, 2007 by CD

Source:

The U.S. tortures prisoners in violation of international law, former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday, adding that President Bush makes up his own definition of torture.

“Our country, for the first time in my lifetime, has abandoned the basic principle of human rights,” Mr. Carter said on CNN. “We’ve said that the Geneva Conventions do not apply to those people in Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo, and we’ve said we can torture prisoners and deprive them of an accusation of a crime.”

Bush’s Wiretaps: Impeachment not Immunity

October 10th, 2007 by CD

An important message from Democrats.com:

Two years ago, the NY Times revealed George Bush has been illegally wiretapping our phones and emails for years. Bush publicly admitted signing the authorizations for illegal wiretaps over 30 times.

Bush’s warrantless wiretaps are a flagrant violation of the Fourth Amendment. And under the 1978 FISA law, the penalty for each of Bush’s illegal wiretaps is up to $10,000 and 5 years in prison. Bush may have wiretapped millions of Americans, so he should not only be impeached, but he should spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Incredibly, “Bush Dog” Democrats led by House Majority Steny Hoyer not only refuse to impeach Bush - they want to immunize Bush and his co-conspirators, the telephone giants, so they never pay a penny or spend a day behind bars for their crimes.

Congress needs to hear from all of us today . Email your Representatives to demand impeachment, not immunity:
http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/114

If you have time, call your Representative and Senators at 202-225-3121 and politely express your outrage and your demand for impeachment, not immunity, for Bush’s illegal wiretapping.

Three Iran Reports to Slow Down Bush’s thirst for war

October 8th, 2007 by CD

VIA ThinkProgressive:

“The intelligence community over the next few months is going to come out with three different reports on Iran about internal political problems of Iran, about the economy, and about their nuclear capability.

Those are going to be key to decide what the Bush administration is going to do, and it’s the intelligence community I think trying to slow down what the president, most particularly the vice president, want to do in Iran.”

Britain backs U.S. air strikes on Iran

October 8th, 2007 by CD

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has agreed to support U.S. air strikes against Iran if the Islamic country orchestrates large-scale attacks by militants against British or American forces in Iraq, a British newspaper said on Sunday.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, Brown has been informed of U.S. plans to launch limited air and special forces raids against Revolutionary Guard bases, senior Pentagon officials was quoted as saying.

After talks with U.S. President George W. Bush during his visit in July, Brown indicated that Britain was “on board” for a military response — but only if Iran was proved to be behind a big militant attack or another stunt similar to the kidnapping of British sailors in March, said the report.

According to the report, the U.S. wanted Britain’s Special Air Service Regiment to take part in special forces raids inside Iran and had requested help from the Royal Navy to combat Iranian retaliation in the Gulf. But no decisions have been made.

US `Mad Decision’ To Attack

October 5th, 2007 by CD

I still have a feeling the U.S. government is in a state in which it needs a coup d’etat to happen or better yet lets just use our rights and impeach Bush and Cheney.  The U.S. will do something to Iran and cause a huge problem for the middle East.

Iran: Warned US 2 Yrs Ago If US Made `Mad Decision’ To Attack

UNITED NATIONS (AP)–Iran warned the U.S. two years ago that it would retaliate if the U.S. made a “mad decision” to attack the country, Iran’s foreign minister said Wednesday.

Manouchehr Mottaki refused to disclose what Iran’s response would be and stressed that the government isn’t expecting U.S. President George W. Bush’s administration to launch an attack, although Washington has repeatedly said all options remain on the table.

“Our analysis is clear,” he said. “U.S. is not in a position to impose another war in our region against their taxpayers.”
