Wonder Girls: Tell me

December 4th, 2007 by CD

Well it is Tuesday so that means another edition of Tuesday’s music. During my recent trip to Seoul, i can’t tell you how popular the Wonder Girls are. I mean, they had me doing their trade mark dance to the video Tell Me. This group has everyone hooked. I remember I was at the mall and the clerk was doing the dance too…it was so hilarious. Anyways, Star King had them on along with a group of traffic cops in their 20s who did the Wonder Girl dance. This is so funny and cute….ahhh I miss Korea already. Do enjoy!!

Jane Monheit: A magical voice

October 29th, 2007 by CD

Jane Monheit was born in Oakdale, New York on Long Island. She began singing professionally while attending Connetquot High School. She graduated in 1995. At 17, she began to study at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City under the tutelage of Peter Eldridge. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in music in 1999. At the age of 20, as a senior, she won the first runner-up prize at the 1998 Thelonious Monk Institute Vocal Competition.

Monheit’s classically trained voice has been compared to that of Ella Fitzgerald, whom she lists as one of her influences. Even though she is often cited as a jazz vocalist, her recorded tracks range from jazz to MGM/RKO 1930s–1950s musicals and Latin American rhythms such as the song “Comecar De Novo.”

Her albums include Come Dream With Me (2001), In The Sun (2002), and a live album, Live at the Rainbow Room (2003) which also had a complementary DVD release.

Paul Potts: UK Pop Idol

September 12th, 2007 by CD

Well, I certainly have a treat for everyone today.  Here is the USA, I’m sure if I asked anyone if they ever heard of Paul Potts, they would say “who…?”  Paul Potts is the winner of the UK Pop Idol which is what is called in the USA American Idol.

Paul is not your typical hunk of a guy from American standards and probably would have had a slim chance of wining American Idol but this is just another reason I love Europe!  This is truly a great accomplishment for Paul and now we get to hear his music.  He is a natural singer of opera and the first time I listened to him I got chills…wait I still get chills!  If you are not a fan of opera hearing this guy will make you.  You can order his CD through the below link.

Paul’s official websites have been announced.

Melinda Doolittle

March 1st, 2007 by CD

melindablog.jpgLet’s take a break from the political news and turn to some American pop culture.  Today’s Talk is about American Idol!  And let’s forget about all the guys right now and let me focus my attention on a very talented singer named Melinda Doolittle.  She brought down the house this Wednesday with her version of My Funny Valentine.  That song needs to be on a single CD right now.  It was awesome.  If you want to know more about Melinda Doolittle you can visit her at her American Idol page.  But for now here is a downloadable version of My Funny Valentine.

Good luck to you!

Tuesday Music: Lee Byung Hun

February 13th, 2007 by CD

lee-byung-hun1.jpgWelcome back to another edition of Tuesday’s Music where I introduce great international singers to my readers.  Today’s singer is the extremely talented actor and singer Lee Byung Hun 이병헌. The album that I have available for download was actually the first Korean music I ever listened to when I was an undergraduate.  So this is a classic oldie that should be in everyone’s collection!

You can visit his site which is available in English and read more about his acting career.  There isn’t too much information on his album entitled “Tears” but it is a great website to learn more about his career.  Tear’s is a romantic ballad album which has some really sad songs in it.  If you aren’t depressed before listening to this album you will be afterwards!

In any case, as always enjoy the music!
